Nila is a part of my childhood.
I was born in a small village where we kids used to count school days on the calendar, motivating ourselves by saying, “Oh, Monday is over. Only four days left.”
Those were days without cable or DTH. Television itself was a luxury. Our biggest entertainment was weekly kids’ magazines. And then there were wedding functions.
I loved attending weddings in our village, whether we were invited or not.
I just wanted to be there. If there was a wedding happening anywhere around, one thing was guaranteed: the catering would be done by NILA Catering. There was never a single function without their logo. It felt like Nila was part of every celebration.
Even before the idea of receptions became common, they introduced a beautiful trend in Kerala, distributing sweet boxes. I still remember them clearly. A white square box with Nila’s blue logo, filled with laddu, mixture, and jilabi. That box itself felt like happiness.
When I finally got a chance to work for NILA Catering, I was instantly pulled back into those childhood memories. The days, the taste, the yellow box, the joy. I didn’t just want to create an ad. I wanted to recreate those memories as a tribute.
